Ergonomic mouseRepetitive Strain Injury or RSI, and in particular a major variant, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS, represents an increasingly serious health hazard for the growing body of computer users today. This has led to lost time at work, forced change in occupation and in some cases permanent disablement. The science of ergonomics seeks to eliminate or at least alleviate this hazard by improved design of the computer workstation. The mouse is generally recognised as one of, if not the, most serious contributor to the RSI health hazard, a situation which is deteriorating as software development contributes to increasing mouse usage. Considerable effort is being devoted to designing safer pointing devices which better position arm, hand and fingers; reducing strain and repetitive movement; and increasing comfort and relaxation. A range of such products are offered below.
